Rabbits

Rabbits have been a rather new endeavor for us but we were first introduced through the 4-H rabbit project 2 years ago. Now we have 2 resident rabbits one a Lion’s-Mane (Hazel) and the other a Rex Lion’s-Mane mix (Clover). Recently we have allowed them to breed and had our first litter of 8 on January 20th this year. The litter consisted of 2 does and 6 bucks.

We have figured out, as many rabbit owners have, that we do not have enough room in the inn for this amount of rabbits. We will be keeping one of the females as a resident as well as the mom and dad but would love to find loving homes for the rest of them. I would like to recommend that you do not use these as breeding stock as they are mixes and are not 50/50 splits as well as the surplus of young that they produce. Please note that these rabbits have not received any vaccinations and have not been spayed or neutered. The breed lions mane is commonly used for the fiber that they produce and Rex rabbits are known for there pelts but since these babies are mostly lions mane they are not as desirable for meat or pelts.
